The Ikelos is an aggressive High Angle design for well conditioned and experienced paddlers who want a durable paddle with a powerful catch and smooth linking strokes.
The Ikelos features a carbon blade with a full foam core which creates a buoyant feel to the paddle. This buoyancy makes paddling easier by floating the blade out at the end of the stroke; it also has advantages in rolling and bracing. Werner have made the paddle as durable as possible however the advantages gained from this type of construction do make it less resistant to the impacts that a glass or full carbon blade might be able deal with, so we would suggest that might not be an ideal paddlle for rock gardens and bashing around with.
The 'Bent Carbon' construction features a neutral bent carbon shaft constructed of high quality carbon weave materials throughout to form some of the lightest, strongest paddles available. The stiff nature of carbon allows Werner to use less material, thus lighter swing weight while still achieving a high specification of performance, durability and of course strength. Werner's Neutral bent shafts naturally align wrists to reduce fatigue and give you more hand to shaft contact while using a loose grip allowing you to reduce strain.
