Spade designer Matze on the Slick: With every new boat we design, we try to find the missing link in our fleet. We’re very excited for the space the Slick is going to fill as it’s already the 5th flavor of half slice we come out with. For all of you wondering what the differences are here are some facts and thoughts:
Despite its length of 275 cm the Slick is probably our most agile boat yet. At a width of 69cm it’s just slightly narrower than the Full House but we kept the edges a touch lower, to give it an even more stable platform. Combined with its high bow rocker and optimized rocker break it becomes extremely playful and it effortlessly sweeps onto all features ahead.
Even though it appears to be similar to the Joker, but the two boats couldn’t have more differences. The Joker is speedy and moving straight forwards like no other. The Slick with its wide bow on the other hand, will stay on top of things and pivot left and right like a champ. It’s certainly one of the most fun ways of running technical, busy whitewater as well as defined big water.
The slicey stern is inspired by the Barracuda, but with about 300 L of volume the Slick is obviously much more suited for harder whitewater as well.
The general idea was to combine elements of the Barracuda and the Full House and create the perfect love child of the two.
