The Astral V-Eight is a front entry PFD with a high back design that allows you to lean comfortably against any high seat back.
The design stands out from the others with 4 Airsecape 'vents' on the front panel while the rear foam features built in channels. These in combination with the very breathable thin mesh polyester liner to help improve airflow around your torso, great for those warm days on the water.
It's also a very light option; the official weight is 553.83gms and our M/L weighed in a little under 600gms on our old analogue scales.
Astral use a combination of PE Foam and EVA which is shaped and contoured to provide a better fit that doesn't feel too bulky. This is most noticeable on the front panels which wrap around your torso and have a cut away on the inside that reduces the thickness of the foam towards the top.
The V-Eight is easy to adjust with two side straps, shoulder straps and a buckle to prevent the zipper coming undone.
Some other great little features include the Velcro which can be used to tidy away the lengths of shoulder strap and the twin mesh zipped pockets. While not the largest the pockets are large enough for a little cash or a key in a dry case and each one has an elastic loop to secure valuables.
