Using a paddle specific cut with pre-bent arms and generous fit allows plenty of room for movement and keeps all the seams away from areas of high stress like under the arms and makes it more comfortable to wear while paddling.  A wide opening neck with velcro adjustment, and velcro wrist seals keep the worst of the water out but if the sun does shine can easily be opened to let the air in and help temperature regulation.
