We are pleased to announce that after several years absence, Sandiline is back at Whitewater the Canoe Centre with some old favourites and some exciting new bits of kit!
Focusing mainly on their slalom kit, we thought it might be useful to put some questions together as a guide to what's new and what kit has been updated.
Is the new Sandiline slalom kit compatible with Hiko slalom kit?
Yes, both Sandiline and Hiko slalom kit are compatible with each other. Some examples include the Sandiline Fobos PFD being used with the Hiko JACKPOT x ZEPHYR and JACKPOT x MAMBA cagdecks or the Sandiline Mars Fobos Ready cagdecks, which will accept the Hiko Jackpot Redwood PFD.
Do Sandiline slalom spraydecks fit onto the Vajda Demon 4 cockpit?
With Vajda’s most recent slalom C1 design utilising a non-standard cockpit rim, which is a kind of hybrid between the traditional rounded C1 cockpit and a K1 slalom cockpit, Sandiline produce a special Demon spraydeck which is suitable for this cockpit rim. Please let us know if you would like us to order either the Sandiline Demon spraydeck on a cagdeck or as a standalone spraydeck!
I haven’t had Sandiline slalom kit for a few years, have there been any updates or changes to any of the kit?
Yes, there has been some changes most of them being updated colours, but the bigger changes involve the new Fobos Ready product line. This new collection of slalom kit includes the Mars Combo cagdecks which integrate with the Fobos PFD to provide slalom paddlers with maximum clearance through the gates to cut the lines even tighter! The superb Combo Dry 3L winter cagdecks are still available, these also come in a Fobos Ready version as well.
The Sandiline Pro PFD has been superseded by the Deimos PFD. This is designed for maximum performance in canoe/kayak competitions. It is sleek and compact and boasts an impressive 40mm thickness in the front and back, ensuring a snug and comfortable fit that adheres perfectly to your body.
The older E-Flex speedskin-type cagdecks have been phased out in favour of the newer Mars Combo cagdecks. These are perfect for competition being manufactured using the Ecoflex material—a super elastic fabric that combines breathability, waterproofing, and elasticity for unparalleled comfort and agility.
Do Sandiline make kit which is suitable for kayak cross training/competitions?
They do indeed! The Combo Mars cagdeck is available with a Big Deck spraydeck which will fit kayak cross boat cockpit rims (Pyranha Rip-R Evo, RTM Paname, Lettmann Olymp, Spade Barracuda etc.), and is available in both long and short sleeve versions. Couple the Combo Mars cagdeck with a Deimos PFD and you have the perfect pairing for Kayak Cross. For wintertime kayak cross there is a Combo Dry 3L with a Big Deck, so you can stay warm and dry whilst remaining competitive for Kayak X!
